what Does it mean?

Uyi means honour in Yoruba. It comes from Adejuyigbe, a family name that means the crown saves honour from being lost.

It's also how we work. Before we design anything, we look at what was already there: the land, the climate, the craft and the ways people have built and lived in a place for generations. Then we decide what to keep, what to carry forward and what to make new.

Our work moves between architecture, identity and objects. We don't follow style or trends. We ask what belongs.

Services

Architectural Design

We design spaces around the people who use them and the place they belong to.

From the first sketch to developed drawings, we work through proportion, material, light, movement and use together, so every decision traces back to the original idea.

In a hot climate, that often starts with the sun: where it lands, when, and how much of it to let in.

We want spaces that work, feel easy to live in and have a character of their own.

Brand & Visual Identity

We build identities from a clear sense of what a brand is, what it wants to become and how people should feel when they meet it.

We can start at the very first idea, or with an existing brand that has lost its shape. Through conversation, research and a lot of sketching, we find a point of view and turn it into a system that works everywhere it needs to: a sign, a screen, a shopping bag, a building.

Creative Direction

Before deciding what a space should look like, we help define what it should mean.

We work with brands, developers and creative partners across imagery, campaigns, stories and spaces. The direction we set becomes the reference everyone checks against: architects, interior designers, graphic designers, photographers, makers. Different hands, one world.

Some pieces stand alone. Others are designed as part of a room or a building. Each starts with three questions: how will it be used, how will it be made, and where will it live?

We work on form and function together, and we keep going until it feels right. Not perfect, but right.

Deji Adejuyigbe

(FOUNDER, Uyi Design Studio)

Deji Adejuyigbe is an architectural designer and the founder of Uyi Design Studio. He's interested in how ideas take form, and how design changes the way we experience the world around us.

Over the past decade he has worked on architecture and spatial design in the UK and Nigeria, across homes, hospitality and large-scale developments. His independent practice has since grown into brand identity, furniture, film and photography. To him they're one discipline in different materials: each is a problem to solve and a story to tell.
It started at De Montfort University. His thesis explored how memory rebuilds the spaces we live in, moving through photography, collage, light and shadow before arriving at physical form. The work was later shown in lectures at the Bartlett School of Architecture.

Uyi carries the same curiosity: start with context and purpose, follow the idea wherever it goes, and keep going until the form feels right.
